There seems to be no grey are with musicals, you either love them or canít stand them. Which side of the fence do you sit on? Is there one in particular that you dislike more than the rest? How about one you love above all others?
I love musicals, of all kinds. I'd find it hard to pick my favourite. When I start thinking about it, I'd just end up listing loads: Cabaret, The Sound of Music, Chicago. Jesus Christ Superstar, and on, and on, and on...
I like musicals because they usually lift my spirits up. My favourite musicals are the ones by Disney, although I know that their films aren't technically classed as that. When they get turned into stage musicals they are excellent though.
I adore movies, especially the old fashioned ones. I've not got a favourite as there are too many to choose from and each musical is typically so extremely different from another and your enjoyment of them can depend upon your mood. I adore Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Cover Girl, Wizard of Oz. I also love the old black and white movies with Fred Estaire and Ginger Rogers, they just take you to a different time and place.
I love Musicals, on stage!
Movie ones' are ok, just! They lack the 'atmosphere' of a live performance, though!
Most liked: (in no particular order) Camelot, Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, The King & I, Strictly Ballroom, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, War of the World's.
Most disliked: Cats, though a couple of good 'routines', & songs, but way too long, & very boring, I found it.
