Kick-Ass is a super-violent superhero movie series based on the comics of the same name. The series has had two installments thus far and according to Kick-Ass star ChloŽ Grace Moretz, there will likely not be another.

According to Moretz, it all has to do with pirating and theatre seats. She believes high piracy rates contributed to poor theatre turnouts, which translated into poor returns on Kick-Ass 2. However the film did come in 31 million over budget, if the figures on Wikipedia are to be believed. The film scores pretty low on Rotten Tomatoes, a mere 28% on the tomatometer, audience votes were more favourable with 59%. Both the financial numbers and the Rotten Tomato scores are far cry from the number garnered by the original film.

Are you a Kick-Ass fan? Which movie was better, the first or second? What would you like to see out of a third?

Is this the film that received criticism because it had a young child swearing in it? I seem to remember reading about that.
I wouldn't be shocked if it was, one of the characters in the movie is a girl who is a twelve year old psychopath dressed up like a hero. I've only seen one clip from Kick-Ass, and it was this girl mutilating five thugs.
I enjoyed the first movie, have yet to see the second but I'd like to!
I haven't seen either yet. They look like something I would enjoy but the only clip I've seen thus far looked way over the top in terms of violence, so much so that it took away from my enjoyment of the characters. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind violence in movies, but it just seemed a bit much.
You have to watch it! It is quite violent but within context.
I liked the first one, didn't love it though. I haven't seen the second one. I thought the first was only as good as it was because the concept was quite original, and I didn't think it would stand up to a second treatment.
I loved the first one, the second was also pretty good and I thought Jim Carrey did a great job. We are a big fan of the graphic novel here so would be in favour of a third movie.
