The first movie was made in 1878, and was called, 'The Horse in Motion', though it was only 16 seconds long. The earliest recorded account of a film being projected was by Charles Francis Jenkins in 1894. In this movie, Jenkins protected his film before his family and friends.
La Sortie de l'Usine Lumière à Lyon (Employees Leaving the Lumière Factory] was the first motion picture ever made. It was by the Lumiere brothers and premiered the 28th December 1895 at the Grand Café in Paris.
The first feature length movie in the world wasThe Story of the Kelly Gang, produced in Australia in 1906. It was over an hour long and was shown in the Athenaeum Hall in Collins Street in Melbourne on 26th December, 1906.
