Quite often I'll check out a film's scoring on IMDB or with Rotten Tomatoes to see if it's worth watching and to see what others think of it. However, sometimes I really don't agree with the ratings given. With this in mind, how much weight do you put on movie ratings and reviews?
Would you watch a Rotten Tomato? Image: www.rottentomatoes.com
Would you ever see a film that has received largely negative reviews? Are there any films that you love despite its poor reviews?
I would hesitate even though I know from experience on TV, that some of the reviews that have had really bad ones, have for me, been very good movies.
I cannot think of any at the moment, and have to admit that when looking for movies to record on TV, I look for how many stars -usually if it only has one star, I do not record it, despite knowing that sometimes I have watched one of these and liked it.
The only thing bad reviews do for me is lower my expectations, which usually allows me to enjoy a movie more. If I was totally hyped for a movie and read a bad review, I would still go see it. If it sucked, I would be forewarned.
